Irene Meets Sandy:

Yes& - Sages for Ages

It’s hard to describe the feeling of nearly mystical serendipity that brought Sandy and I together as friends. If you listen to our first podcast episode, you know what the odds are that we would both be motivated by the YesAND philosophy (and there is the wonder of the unintended matching tattoos).

We have both embraced the idea that two things can be true at the same time… a MILLION things can be. Over the past 16 years, we’ve facilitated, celebrated, and sometimes lamented, the socio, economic and biocultural changes that keep coming at us all so rapidly. But our intention for these conversations is to inspire you to keep going, no matter how challenging the world seems these days. It can be difficult to feel energized or hopeful as we blow through climate crisis benchmarks, careen through political scandal, global violence, Supreme Court rulings with profound consequences…

AND… we remain deeply grateful for the incredible work people are doing in our country and the world to meet this moment. Former Russian leader Mikhail Gorbachov who presided over the dissolution of the Communist State and served as president after, pointed out that the watershed moment is NOT for the people who live through it, but rather for those who come after. For the people who live through these historic moments, it is usually chaotic, painful, and often dangerous. I believe we were made for these difficult times. And I trust we will meet them together. (Click here to watch the video recording of our first podcast.) We’re eager to hear who the Sages are in your lives and work– who inspires you and gives you hope? How are YOU Saging in your communities?

And before you go, take a listen to the  St. Paul De Vence music link we shared under Deep Dive. Dear friend Ben Doerr is a brilliant singer-songwriter, social justice advocate and charter boat captain. His music has scored our lives since we met him a decade ago, and he generously allowed us to use his music in the production of our show. When he sings with Lydia Ramsey, a solo artist in her own right, the most magical, musical alchemy occurs. Download his music at the links provided. Charter a sail to the San Juan Islands. If you’re lucky, he’ll serenade you while whales frolic in the sunset. It sounds unreal, I know, but it is SO real.
